Time Limits and Requirements

Expungement is granted once the legal time limits from the completion of the sentence have elapsed, which vary according to its severity — from months for minor offenses to several years for serious ones — and provided no further offenses have been committed. It is a right, but it is not always processed promptly by the authorities, and it is advisable to request it.
